US Win Over Italy
Earlier this week, the US Soccer team traveled to Italy to play a friendly match and won 1-0 on a 55th minute goal by Clint Dempsey. This is the first major win for the team since the Cup. After long-time coach Bob Bradley was fired following the World Cup loss to Ghana (GHANA!), the US national team appointed Jurgen Klinsmann as the new head coach. His strict policy on fitness and endurance has clearly paid off. In ten previous matches, the US has never beat Italy. The victory on the road created a huge confidence booster for the team and showed that Klinsmann's policy works. Hopefully, Dempsey can keep up his incredible hot streak that he is on right now for at least a little while longer, like through the World Cup.

Some of this was in response to rising gas prices and the need for a new fuel-efficient car, but sales of trucks were up also. The big advantage for American auto companies moving forward is the availability of cars with high MPG numbers, as well as trucks that can get 23 MPG (Ford F-150 Flex Fuel Model). While the stock market and employment numbers can be good indicators of how the economy is doing, when you see that auto sales are up 14.4% (Ford), it is clear that the economy is on the right track. Now, if only the housing market would pick up...
Video of the Week
I never planned on having a video posted up on my blog, but this was just too good to not share. A short 1:14 iReport from CNN gives you the story of a Cleveland man who defended his home like any good American. Make sure you watch to the end for the punchline. Here it is!
Quote of the Week

"I got my new press secretary that should be landing in couple of days, Reggie Jackson, so I'll let him handle that, all right?"
